Live Session Expectations

Live Instruction

Live sessions are a crucial part of your learning experience. They provide opportunities for:

  • Real-time interaction with instructors and immediate feedback on your questions
  • Collaborative problem-solving with peers on complex technical concepts
  • Deeper understanding through discussion and active participation

Recorded Sessions

While we strongly encourage live attendance, we understand that conflicts may arise. All sessions are recorded and should be viewed within 24 hours if you miss the live session.

Important

Even when watching recordings, you're expected to:

  • Complete all exercises and activities mentioned in the session
  • Post questions in your track's Slack channel if anything is unclear

Active Participation Requirements

Slack Engagement

Active participation in Slack is essential for your learning journey. You should:

  • Regularly check your track's channel for updates and announcements
  • Ask questions when you need help and don't hesitate to seek clarification
  • Help other learners when you can to reinforce your own understanding

Project Engagement

Regular progress on projects demonstrates your engagement:

  • Submit module projects on time and aim for high-quality implementations
  • Complete sprint challenges to demonstrate your mastery of core concepts
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve your work

Program Policies

Activity Requirements

Important

Learners must maintain regular activity in the program. Inactivity for more than seven (7) days will result in being flagged as inactive.

Activity is measured through:

  • Attendance in live sessions or viewing recordings within 24 hours
  • Project submissions and sprint challenge attempts with meaningful effort
  • Participation in Slack discussions and community support

Leave of Absence

If you're unable to maintain engagement due to extenuating circumstances, you may need to request a leave of absence. This helps:

  • Protect your progress in the program and maintain your enrollment status
  • Prevent unintentional withdrawal due to extended inactivity
  • Create a plan for your return to active status with support from staff
